Chicken litter is not ‘animal parts’ per se. It’s the bedding in the chicken’s roost/cage, which is of course covered in chicken feces. That being said, it is possible that there can be spilled chicken feed in the litter and the chicken feed could contain cattle protein. 🤷‍♂️ It’s all pretty messed up.

Please accept my condolences. Cows do not require protein in the form of chicken waste. When it happens, it's a money-making venture for those with chicken waste to sell and those who want to buy cattle food on the cheap. All of us deserve better. Let us continue to demand better.

Indeed, they do. Our named cows used to be part of the family. We had no more than 12-24 to milk 2x daily. Now on some of the mega-farms that use a giant carousel as the milking parlor, young cows are milked 2-3x daily in 24 hours, and they are culled once they dry. They have 1 calf. Brief lives.

We have to trust the process. And though I trust the Canadian Food Inspection Agency for cattle feed regulations, the transport of live horses to Japan is one process they have failed at miserably.
