Important for understanding implications of the Defense Department purge. Who will be their replacements? Recall this report from December: "Prospective occupants of high posts inside the Pentagon" were asked "whether they believed the 2020 election was stolen."

This was the moment, just over a month ago, when the ADL could've put an end to Republicans doing Nazi salutes. They didn't. They chose instead to provide cover by calling it "an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm." Now the sieg heil salute has been normalized. The ADL literally had ONE JOB.

In 2014, a Google engineer launched a petition proposing a national referendum. The first two points? 1. Retire all government employees with full pensions. 2. Transfer administrative authority to the tech industry. What a difference a decade can make!

Last night's Pentagon massacre is much more than realized. Not just firing the black CJCS and first woman CNO but all the senior JAG officers and hiring a man who just joined 3 different crypto firms tied to Kushner and Thiel as Chairman. I did a deep dive into it open.substack.com/pub/fpwellma...

The student who ripped this sign down did more for trans people than most of our politicians.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

This chart shows that Ford’s deficits are much larger than Wynne’s. Sure some of that is due to Covid but Ford is also defunding everything we need (education, healthcare) while spending on things we don’t (agency fees, spas, tunnels, highways, ads on Hannity). #OnPoli

Amazon-produced 007 movie pits Bond against fulfillment center workers who want to unionize

More of this please.

Why is Doug Ford committing Ontario to a $100 million deal with Elon Musk’s Starlink, when Musk can yank it out from under us when it serves him or Trump?

“A desire to force U.S. military leaders to be obedient to him and not the Constitution is one of the constant themes of Trump’s military-related discourse.”

This blog post hits hard. “Politicization of the military… is bad for military effectiveness, it is bad for democracy, and we are now here, deep in the middle of it. And getting out is going to be really hard and will do lasting damage.”

Times have been tough in this Ohio town since they closed the old blood & soil factory. So when Steve Bannon and Elon Musk promised to bring back Heil Hitler salutes, they finally had something to cheer about. But now the woke mob wants to take all that away.

In every single interview I’ve done with international media since Trump took power I’ve been asked: Why are there no mass protests? There are many reasons, of course, but the utter refusal of the self-proclaimed “fourth estate” to communicate clearly what is happening has to be high on the list.

I'm beginning to think that the Build Canada folks might be trying to gin-up some outrage over federal government spending & "fraud" in Canada. Here's what they put out today: x.com/canada_spend... But (next post), a more careful read of the data shows the CRA's "loss" in 2023-24 = $13.6M

Why did Hegseth just fire every top military branch lawyer? What did they refuse to sign off on? A Pulitzer awaits the reporters and outlet who can tell the public.

its amazing the way conservative arguments fall completely apart in court when there are actually penalties for lying

in the trump administration, “merit” is pronounced “white” like how strom thrumond said it.

Bingo!

A deep dive into DOGE data discovers a disturbing directory of discrepancies, distortions, delusions, and deception. Dismal. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/u...

And by permanent he means 4 years, but maybe 2 years. 😏

Sweet! Maybe your car can power your house during an outage.

We're very fair to Canada. But they're not fair to us. We invite them. Come and play in Boston. Beautiful city. Boston, Muskachusetts. The perfect city really. But Canada. Very unfair. We give them two goals. Very fair. But Canada takes more goals. Not very fair, right? Goal tariffs. It's happening.

This brief exchange perfectly sums up the current state of the post-truth online information space.

CSPAN Caller from West Virginia: I’m a diabetic and I’m on Medicare. When Biden was in there, my insulin was $6 for a 28 day supply. I just went to CVS, it went back up to $80…

There’s something happening in this country.

"We are at a moment right now where people are asking themselves, why can't the Democratic Party defend this assault on democracy?" "I would submit to you that if you can’t draw the line at genocide, you probably can’t draw the line at democracy." -- Ta-Nehisi Coates

It is Black History Month and each day this month I am sharing stories from Canada's Black history. Today it is the story of William Peyton Hubbard. A popular Toronto politician, who was one of the first Black Canadians elected to public office. 🧵1/10

U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., said he was “disturbed” and “puzzled” after Trump-appointed U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth claimed that returning to Ukraine’s pre-war borders is “unrealistic.” https://buff.ly/4i9othN

Douggie’s new nickname: “Are you the Premier with the oil?”

These kinds of threats only work if the threatener can credibly commit to not doing the thing that they are threatening. And Trump can't commit to not pulling out of Europe, so Europeans should just do what is best for themselves. So, no, German pols shouldn't embrace the AfD

“White House officials have told Ukraine to stop badmouthing Donald Trump and to sign a deal handing over half of the country’s mineral wealth to the US, saying a failure to do so would be unacceptable.” www.theguardian.com/world/2025/f...

Powerful. Tomorrow’s front page of the most influential weekly publication in Germany. “BETRAYED. First Zelensky, Soon Us? The radical departure of the US from its allies.”

I was at a punk show in 83 where a skinhead jumped up on stage and gave a Nazi salute. The bass player hit him with his bass, knocking him into the crowd and 150 people collectively hauled his ass out of the venue and threw him in the mud. This was the right and only appropriate response.

Point.

To the Trump voters feeling betrayed by his actions, remember that this is the conservative ideology you voted for. Under “trickle-down economics,” the billionaires will get tax cuts, become richer than ever and then THEN they will create prosperity. Soon! Hang tight! It’s been 45 years but soon!
