That's a fine article, but the dimension missing, or not discussed, is the need for education, and training to think critically. Apparently literacy levels in the US are relatively low. If they were even slightly higher, since the margins turned out to be so close, Trump would have been defeated.

There is also the aspect of cultism, trying to understand its dynamics and why people become trapped. People settle into a stubbornly stable equilibrium, fuelled by ignorance or prejudice. As ever, prevention is better than cure, and education is the best prophylactic.
