When I got back into football in 2015, after being a massive anime/computer game nerd for all my teens, I realised very quickly that football fans are incredibly geeky. It's great though, nice to know that "normal people" were incredibly passionate about niche things as well.
THIS! The only person who should be wearing a player’s jersey at a game is their significant other, like in high school. I always want to ask if they’re dating Gronk.
It's like we collectively gaslit ourselves into thinking that memorizing who "scored 3 touchdowns in '93" was somehow "more useful" and "less autistic" than knowing the exact number of bolts a Millennium Falcon would need to be built in real life
Nah, it's about creating situations to examine us as we are, as we have been, and as we could be. The fictional science is fun, but its purpose to create situations for characters. I don't care about warp drive, I care about Kirk.
Yeah, but the "sci-fi database" guy cares about the warp drive and the nacells and the engineering tubes and on and on way more than kirk. That's the joke.

Sports "fans" -- I see you.
Like, when would you ever need to know that SGA is 6'6", when would you ever even use that information?
Not only because of the sports ball thing but also because it sounds like your idea of highschool is from an 80s movie
