This is why I read The Story of Jane recently (great book: an underground abortion referral network pre-Roe that developed into women performing abortions themselves, a radical pragmatism, a template for how organizing has succeeded before). More good history book recs welcome.

For me, it feels similar to the "don't comply ahead of time" advice. We should understand that work is needed, but giving up before the fight starts does no one any good.
