The wholesale firing of probationary federal employees is crazy. It makes no sense. It's cruel. It saves practically no money. Everybody should be saying this all the time.

These idiots probably thought probationary means on probation like a criminal just released from prison. The word was likely flagged and they were too arrogant to bother learning what it meant in this context as anyone with an ounce of common sense would do. Getting promoted gives you that status!
i still can’t believe that a president has the legal authority to do it. is our system really that once elected the president can fire the whole of govt? cuz that seems like a stupid way to run a govt. where’s the limit? firing 90% of military?
I keep saying this to my federal employee neighbors: “What is the end game?” I really don’t want to believe that cruelty is the end game and would love to be proven otherwise.
I get that, but are Trump and Musk really so egomaniacal to think that AI and private contractors will do anything better? I mean, I’ve experienced being on hold with Verizon for hours. (No need to answer this question to which there are no satisfactory answers.)
For decades Republicans have been anti-government, working to privatize everything. Making public services bad by cutting funding and by trash talking them is how they convince people government is incompetent. Decades of this has resulted in billions of our tax dollars going to private schools.

A lot harder to find a new job when you've been fired for poor performance 😡
