My youngest is the only person I know that can pick up bees, wasps, hornets. She told me they smell your intent and if you do kill one, they remember you.
Maybe we should change our intentions when we approach them. Regard them as essential to our ecology.
Me & my siblings were traumatized by The Wasp Woman movie as kids. We were visiting my grandparents' hometown & watched the movie (probably at my cousin Vince's suggestion). We were so scared that all 3 of us slept in the same room that night. The room had an old radio w/a light-up dial. We turned
the sound down but kept the radio light on as our night light that night. That wasn't something we normally did but we did that night. It's really a B horror film from 1959 that's ridiculous on its face but when you're 9 & 11, that's scary stuff. My dad would have nixed the idea automatically bc
The mud dauber is a beneficial wasp as it collects spiders to feed its young when they hatch. Blue mud daubers are the main predator of the black and brown widow spiders π·οΈ
I was a cable installer for 7 years, and there has never been a species that I dispatched in greater numbers with more extreme prejudice. Fuck those dangly-legged little bastards.

Just a thought.
I wasn't originally allergic to bees but after a wasp sting, I am. Hate them things.

They ARE pollinators though, so weβll have to deal.
I agree that feral European wasps can get in the bin
