William Goldman, who knew a thing or two about screenwriting, said you should enter a scene at the last possible moment. You can extrapolate that out to the entire story.

Prequels are the opposite of that.

Still, if Disney+ wants to give us a gritty 6 ep backstory on Porkins, I'd check it out.

This is why the best watch order for Star Wars is 4, 5, 2, 3, 6. You know nothing about the big reveal in 5, then you go back and see Vader turn bad before you know the ending of 6, then you come back to 6 and don't know if Luke's going to go bad. I can dig out a link if anyone's still listening

I just rewatched the Clone Wars episode where Fives finds out about the inhibitor chips, and god damn that was some fine storytelling. Doesn't matter if the ending was a foregone conclusion, the journey was EPIC.

I feel like prequels become a giant fan service wink to the audience. “Character major alcoholic in OG series” “character in prequel: “takes sip of alcohol - “wow this stuff is amazing”. Stares into camera for five seconds.”
