I'm pro vaccine but have hesitated getting the shingles vaccine. I had Shingles when I was 30. I was told you can contract Shingles again even with the vaccine. I guess I'll have to reconsider given this new information.
No vaccine is 100% effective. But they do GREATLY reduce the incidence, and may reduce the severity if you do happen to get a recurrence.
It's like a lock on your house. There's no lock made that SOME burglar can't pick, but your chances of remaining un-robbed are much better with the lock. 1/2
I had a case of shingles that went on for a month. Later, I was able to get the two-part vaccine. The second shot laid me out for about a day and a half, but that was nothing compared to the actual shingles. No regrets. 2/2
Agreed. Which is why I will reconsider. At the time I discussed the vaccines, there were no pros to getting it. Now there is. I lost my mother and grandmother to dementia.
Just got my second shot Friday, and both my Mom and Grandma had dementia. Thankful to hear this - and thank you to the researchers who should NOT have to worry about where their funding will be coming from.
oh look, academic research that helps people avoid dementia! But it's at a university (Stanford, in this case). Is Trump going to cut that funding too?
Noooooo, not a effective vaccine. This flies in the face of alternative measures. BTW RFK Jr, do you know what they call alternative medicine that works? Medicine bitch!
Some areas have clinics that offer these at sliding scales for those on fixed incomes. $400 is cheap compared to the costs associated with shingles complications. Hope you’re able to find a clinic.
