I’m guessing Waltz had Jeffery Goldberg’s number in his phone so that he, like a lot of Trump world officials, can leak things to the press. But, not wanting Goldberg’s name in his phone, he hid it under a name with similar initials, and didn’t think about it when he added that J.G. to this chat.
