I’d say … it depends… :)

What‘s the result of the match? Just naming/labeling (then it’s totally valid) or distance/height/metric corrections as well? (then I would not decide this automatically but maybe pass the decision to the user)

It's for the comparison of your performance on that route.
I don't think we will let the user decide. Maybe the user might remove a matching activity from a "route" and create a new one

ah ok. Then I'd say: it's a valid match. If it's not and the user can remove it from that comparison it's fine.

Maybe there should be an option for a "priority route" for similar tracks to set the "master".

Is it possible to compare not only the route (positions), but also distance and gained / lost altitude? I would consider these routes similiar (matched), if all the parameters are similiar. Small detours from usual route happens quite often (construction works, avoiding crowds or muddy paths etc).

Ah, I think I've got it wrong. We will only compare the GPS route for matching. Recorded altitude can be that different sometimes that it's not a good indicator.

Schade :-) But you are right, the altitude data are much less accurate than the position data.

It should of course be possible to compare all values of all matching activities and there should also be graphs. We cannot yet say how much of this will be available with the first version.
