"Among those aged 13-27 in the UK, we found, shockingly, that 52% say they think the UK would be better with a strong leader, unfettered by Parliament and elections. This compares to 40% of those aged 45-65." If we don't educate about democracy... https://www.teachingcitizenship.org.uk/ ...>
I'm from that generation that was taught nothing at school, college, or even university about the essentials of UK politics. It was as if someone 'assumed' we just absorbed it. (No, I still haven't forgiven the Tories of the 1980s/1990s for educating our generation to be ignorant of politics!)
Same. Fortunately I paid some attention to student politics to get a playground level understanding of politics and debate (and especially of 'standing orders'...) so I made sure to read newspapers that covered real politics properly when I got back to the real world.
I had a brief hunt to find the source of this claim and could not find it. Very frustrating. My rule of thumb is that if there is an extraordinary claim and source does not show its working, I'm suspicious.
Gen Z saying they don't support Democracy shows just how entitled they are! Saying that, while you enjoy the freedoms and liberties it provides is like saying, "I don't believe in gravity!" They don't know anything outside of their phones and tablets! Democracy is how they feel entitled!
