The SRA is a weak regulator, happy to deal with easy cases of lawyers with their fingers in the till, but feeble when actual backbone is needed. That said, our defamation laws remain a disgrace and the SRA can’t fix that. It will be shameful if Labour doesn’t address this before the next election.

The firm was Discreet Law, now defunct. The men behind Discreet Law were Roger Gherson and Joseph Levtov. Gherson and Levtov continue to practice at Gherson, LLP where Gherson is founder and senior partner and Levtov is a senior solicitor.

One can only speculate as to why this business was done through a separate firm. Perhaps Gherson did not want to associate his main firm with such controversial cases.
