I saw the end of Les Diaboliques on TV a long time ago, and for good or bad if I know the twist or mystery it throws cold water on my desire to watch the full movie. Eventually I warm up to it but I haven't yet with this one. I should check out the others.
I've only seen the more famous remake Sorcerer (1977) .... and on Betamax 25 years ago at that. Sorcerer is great, very tense. I'm sure I also saw Les Diaboliques (1955) on VHS in about 1996 when it was remade. I should update my viewing.
Stone cold classic! If your looking for a very 1950s English take on trucking, check out "Hell drivers". A young Sean Connery, Stanley Baker and Patrick McGoohan going bat shit crazy.
The turnoff sequence is maybe the single most suspenseful scene in movie history. Masterful how the first truck going through it teaches you everything to watch out for with the second one.
The director's Les Diaboliques is also well worth checking out.
