How does one go about putting themselves out there AS a sensitivity reader? My areas are mental health, child welfare (abuse, fostercare), and non-military PTSD.
Generally, just making consistent posts on social media is a good start. You can also join up with agencies, like Salt & Sage, Kevin Anderson & Associates, etc.
Adding yourself to a few databases can help too, like the Editors of Color database.
Yeah, I kinda stepped away from everything for a year but it's the anniversary of two of my credits and I'd like to get back into it. Should I add the type of sensitivity reading I do to my bio for transparency?
You might also have some success just Googling "sensitivity reader" + "[topic here]" but with the way Google has gone, I'm not as confident in that method.
Omg! Thank you so much for this!!! As a being of anxiety it's so hard to reach out and find folks who want and know how to be sensitivity readers!! Because yah, my stories and characters could uhm... help.... XD

Easy: follow their instructions!
Most of us tell you either on our website, carrd, or other location how we want to be contacted.
I'm personally fine with DMs on here or email, but I know others are email only.
Once again, if you're not sure: ask!
- Area you need reviewed
- When you need the review completed
- Your budget
- Content Warnings (CWs)
- Anything else you think might be helpful
If you know that your story has say, period-accurate racism, *please* tell your reader that.
Some of us are comfortable reading for that, and others aren't.
It gives us the opportunity to approach the work in a way that best works for us. 💖
First, if you're a sensitivity reader/consultant, please feel free to add onto this thread with tips and tricks!
I made this thread, but I love sharing knowledge. 😘
