Our CEO @pimlicat.bsky.social on why the UK's disability benefits system PIP is deeply flawed.
"It will ask a question like, 'can you walk 200 metres?' Maybe you can if you have MS, but what you can't then do is get out of bed for two days. So you score zero on the PIP form."

I am so tired of the ‘red lines’ re any rapprochement to Europe & the self-imposed ‘fiscal rules’ on everything else, both of which have toxic effects on the country and its citizens.
I recommend joining ‘Benefits & Work’. Well worth £20 a year.
Disability Rights ‘Law Pages’ are very good too. Also CPAG and the Scope helpline.
It’s a battle.
My last appeal took 2.5 years up to the Upper Tribunal. They just want people to go away.
This is something people don’t see with some disabilities. My wife can “do” just about everything a person without MS can, but there is a price to pay, usually in pain & fatigue.
She can (& does) work but her quality of life outside of work degrades as the MS advances.
True, you are more likely to get the benefit, but you are effectively committing fraud.
Saving critical for when someone asks me what Sky package I'm on.
‘May’ lose over 10K a year when new PIP /UC are linked. If I don’t get a duplicate award.
I’ve taken up smoking again.
Good Luck x
In practice however, those points would not be awarded.
You would have to go to Appeal which can take years. And have a working knowledge of the relevant legislation which lay people do not.
Suicides will soar.
