I'm happy to loudly and publicly say that both the Trump administration and Trump himself are corrupt, self-serving, short-sighted, and scourges to the lives of good people everywhere. (tbf, last time i tried to get a visa to the US it was denied so not a huge risk for me here)

This is weird because it says "since austerity" like it's a credible claim to say austerity ended at some point

I do not have the social battery capacity to be in a 3 person party as a player and my sweet spot as a GM is 5-6 players so that I can throw a shiny in front of them and take a small break while they all RP about it

I think my hot take is that Long Covid will impact society far more significantly than polio ever did and polio was leaving kids unable to walk. It's so much easier to ignore post viral conditions like Long Covid where there is usually no visible indicator of disability.

The “speed at which they’ve operated” is down to ignoring or actively destroying laws and institutions. This is real “say what you will about Mussolini, but he made the trains run on time” territory. Very concerning that a leadership figure would consider this an appropriate thing to say in public.

As long as I live, I will never understand how “it should be easier for multi-billion-dollar corporations to dump poison in the water my children drink” became popular politics with half the country. www.nbcnews.com/science/envi... 🌎🧪

I need to spend more time appreciating the fact that I can push a git branch and by the time my mouse makes it to my browser, my PR has the refresh for new changes button. The Internet is so fast now but we all get annoyed by 2 seconds of buffering on a 10 minute 1080p video

"risks" doesn't seem like the correct word when the ICC has issued arrest warrants about it. Maybe he could try "clearly" instead. "Clearly breaching international humanitarian law"

I used to have a pay as you go electric meter & it worked out as a lot more than the cost of paying monthly; with the added expense of food going off if it ran out during the night and the fridge/freezer turned off. PAYG meters are what the supplier installs if you're struggling to pay your bills.

COVID is a novel virus. It’s only been five years, which is nothing in the span of a brand new disease. We’re learning more & more each day about the long term consequences of repeat infections. Mask up for yourself, your communities & especially for all the children who can’t protect themselves

Disabled people have a right not to be abused every time that we walk out of our homes. Disabled people have a right not to be abused in our homes. This shouldn’t be seen as controversial.

As a disabled person, I’m not insulted by (the tiny no. of) people circumventing the system. I’m insulted by people making this suggestion. I’m insulted by <£20 BILLION unclaimed benefits thanks to red tape. I’m insulted how disabled people are having to fight for their lives.

When lockdowns started, people said: “this is what your life is like all the time? I had no idea!” They seemed to understand how hard it is to be disabled & housebound. I found support & empathy. Then they got bored. Wanted their “normal” back. Support vanished & disabled people were left behind.

I've always said that waking up with ME is like waking up with the flu; when you also had 3 bottles of wine the night before.

@chess.com Why have a Good game button if it causes chat to be disabled from spam?

We should leave no one on the scrapheap. on.ft.com/41mIVF9

I reduce my shoulder daily

I just realised that Trump is the coward version of Carcer in Terry Pratchett's book Night Watch. It strikes me as unconscious nihilism, an inability to recognise that he cannot survive in the environment he is trying to create.

Every single person on this planet will die too soon OR become disabled. There's no way to dodge this. Until I was disabled, I could never be disabled because I'm me and that happens to other people. Wrong, it happens to everyone at some point.

I have no faith in the ability of people to pay enough attention that they can be the correct amount of outraged.

This weird energy of “you have no idea how it is”. I’m black with a Muslim first name and I spend time in small German towns with large far-right vote shares. I know how it is. I honestly wish I didn’t. And what happened yesterday was better than I had feared. Truly.

“Were they dying from chronic disease or were they dying from Covid” Covid. They died from Covid This is health supremacy. Chronic illness is not someone’s fault. Disability can’t be fixed with diet & exercise. We’re no less deserving of life This is escalating eugenics and it won’t stop with us

I saw one other person wearing a mask in Köln today

Sitting on the train, only one wearing a mask

Another day, another attempted mask ban. This time in Maryland. Please, if you stopped masking we really need you to start again. It will reduce the number of Covid and flu cases, but it will also help normalize masks as a health tool. Disabled people need you to help fight these ugly laws:

When you’re chronically ill, your baseline is everything. It takes next to nothing to cause a setback and requires a shocking amount of effort to regain function. You’re the only one who has to live with the pain and heartache of a setback. Don’t let anyone force you to risk your baseline.

There are people who assume those with disabilities are faking. That we’re scamming the system somehow. That it’s “fun” to be disabled. They never seem to consider that most of us are faking being well. We put on a smile and a brave face & push through suffering that most could never comprehend.

It took me years to admit to myself (and others) that I was disabled. My disabilities are invisible & I used a tremendous amount of energy keeping them hidden Ableism is powerful, and internalized ableism is a difficult thing to wrestle with If society were more inclusive, we wouldn’t be so scared

It’s high time we start being honest about what’s behind a lot of the push towards “wellness”. It’s ableism and eugenics. Its scared people who can’t face the fact that they could lose their health at any moment. It’s people who desperately need to cling to control. 🧵

I've been on annual leave for 24 hours and I've already fought the impulse to push the right hand button about 10 times

If you want to stop illegal migration, make it legal to migrate. That's the only thing that's going to work.

VCs are like horse breeders that shoot every horse that isn't born with a horn

If you haven't seen the magic roundabout in person and during rush hour, then you have no idea the depth of fear a traffic management strategy can strike into the hearts of men. (I love that roundabout, I've never had to stop on it)

There's a clinic in Berlin. That's it for the whole of Germany, I live on the other side of the country. People experience how big of a problem this is are generally too tired to shout about it for long enough and loudly enough that change occurs.

It might be best for the world to fund Mars colonisation just so we can send Musk there, accidentally take everyone else off the rocket, and leave him to it

I married my wife on the basis of the centaur & horse-headed minotaur version of this; she played a druid horse and her character's brother was just some guy.

Oh look, the beginning of official techno-feudalism. Fun.

This is going to cost the NHS far more than Universal Credit could ever save.

Disabled people are consistently asked to do things to "prove" that we "deserve" support. And the things we are asked to do are always the very things that we need support with. Like, if I could do those things, I wouldn't need support in the first place.

It's going to take some time for me to fully understand the implications of what you can do with "performable:" keybinds in Ghostty

Yesterday, I woke up with zero ideas on how to solve a work problem and was fully ready to spend all day being frustrated about it. I solved it within 30 minutes and spent the rest of the day fixing tests and untangling git branches. Felt great

I don't think anything is more supercilious than using the word supercilious.

Ok. So now what? #ME/CFS/LC

I just published my latest tool: **rInstallFriendly v2.0**! A simple installer packages creator! 🚀 Installation time has been improved considerably!!! (Currently ~20 sec. to install ~2GB of data) 🤯 Also added a minimum installation time config option! 😄 raylibtech.itch.io/rinstallfrie...

I'm sure that at some point my brain will lose the freelancer mentality of finding this weird: After my hours are done, I'm just not obligated to work any more. Wild.
