I dunno. This wasn't my experience! Like I got into the game around the start of the last expansion and I knew what I was getting into - and it was great!

I do agree that if story is not content for you, you shouldn't play the game - for me story certainly is content so it was a very different value proposition.

genshin impact is a game i cannot recommend to people cause to catch up to where we are now it will take several hundred hours of dialogue before you even come close... and it's NOT even a good story 🥲

FFXIV is I think a good story but that's "by the standards of a long somewhat padded JRPG" so I'm grading on a curve.

yeah if people want to play a solo rpg for the story and such the game makes sense, but if they are joining thinking it will be an mmo or something they are way off. also,

I mean I play it a lot *now* for the social aspects, and I went through a lot of the game with my girlfriend and that was a really awesome thing to do especially when we were long-distance: those things do exist. But by and large it's possible to play nearly the whole MSQ solo now.

Almost nothing about WoW appeals to me - I've looked into it and really seriously thought about it but I just don't think it would give me what I'm looking for. But surely the same is true the other way round.

I love the game but I could never recommend it to someone who isnt interested in its story (and isnt a consumer psychopath)
