Personally I think it's very pertinent. His politics were unsophisticated & his motives were personal, so he's not very useful as an icon representing much beyond "I like it when my enemies are shot", which, okay, that's your business, but it don't make for much of a policy platform

I actually weirdly enough agree with this, and the CJCS being fired ranks fairly low on the list of things I find concerning about their stated plans for the DoD. The DOGE stuff, mass firings, repudiations of international alliances, and open distain for the laws of war are all markedly worse.
