The survivors, brought to their senses by the disaster, gave chase to the woman; but she, laughing in mockery, changed herself into a wren and flew away.

The MAGAs are really, really blatantly firing a ton of women in the federal government and military for the crime of being women, and it is embarrassing when people ignore or downplay this.

Tariff otaku theory remains undefeated.

"New dangerous dog dropped: now with extra racism!"

I used to use Linux back in the day, switched over to Windows around 2016, and I recently moved onto OpenSUSE Leap after getting frustrated with a worsening Windows experience and increasing AI crap and genuinely it has been so easy to use.

Get-rich-quick schemes used to be mocked in this country, now they’re aspirational

Personally I think it's very pertinent. His politics were unsophisticated & his motives were personal, so he's not very useful as an icon representing much beyond "I like it when my enemies are shot", which, okay, that's your business, but it don't make for much of a policy platform

Discovered Sean Beanstalk yesterday and I feel like we should make this mandatory viewing for anyone who wants to understand the culture of this cursed island. youtube.com/@sansbeansta...

I am right that the Conservatives are still winning, right?

this is from a new report on a “third way” on DEI and it is unbelievably naive, which in my view is emblematic of the author, rich kahlenberg, whose willingness to extend good faith to obvious bad faith actors borders on gullibility www.progressivepolicy.org/a-way-out-of...

I actually weirdly enough agree with this, and the CJCS being fired ranks fairly low on the list of things I find concerning about their stated plans for the DoD. The DOGE stuff, mass firings, repudiations of international alliances, and open distain for the laws of war are all markedly worse.

So they removed the black chairman of the Joint Chiefs in the middle of his 4-year tour, without cause, and they're seeking to replace him with a white **retired** Air Force three-star general who lacks the requisite experience as a service chief or combatant commander? Huh, how about that

Cis people love to design systems that break on contact with trans people and then get mad at trans people for existing about it.

Good piece this. I imagine anyone with a long-term health condition in the UK will recognise elements of Charlie's story. on.ft.com/434zZqn

We have finally convinced Gretel that the world is not ending and in fact new house might be good actually.

extremely promising results from giving mRNA vaccines for pancreatic cancer. this wasn't a rat study, these were humans! the people paranoid about mRNA are going to miss out on literal miracles we're on the verge of truly curing cancer and reliably preventing its recurrence

thanks to the generosity or forgetfulness of the previous owners of this house I now have a giant veiny fist of hot tea

I think politicians are frequently less in touch with what the public actually want because the news and opinion their reading is SO unbalanced, right wing and Trump sucking. Moreso than ever before.

I actually agree with the thesis that a stable democracy generally requires buy-in from conservative forces, as for whatever reason they don't seem to have a good record of actually disappearing. But I don't know what to do about that in a world where they are in fact no longer buying into democracy

Well done to Scottish Labour members. At least there's this.

These feel like three quite separate things. Why lump them all together?
