For me, this study is a glimmer of hope. If we continue our research, we will also be able to track down ME/CFS and LongCovid.

Science is great. Humanity is even greater. Together, the two of them make us invincible.

Long Covid and ME/CFS are very unlikely to be related. Long Covid most likely results from vascular damage. ME/CFS most likely does not.

Both show something like a reaction to an immune defense against pathogens, whatever the pathogen is - could be a virus or an autoimmune domain of whatever.
We will see that the mechanisms are similar in both. Our current thinking is incomplete and too crude. We have to learn to think in new ways.

I’ve had ME/CFS for twenty years. My parents have long covid. They are very different diseases. ME is probably autoimmune. Long Covid is probably irreparable vascular damage. Covid is a multi organ vascular disease, which only initially presents as a respiratory infection.

And both have a kind of autoimmune base, I am sure. We just haven't identified that precisely. Both show symptoms and effects with/to inflammation, e.g..

There is an overlap. I worked in Rheumatology, I know what I talk about.

You can rebuild all the laboratories in other places. It depends on the scientists, not on the heads of state.

As a German, I can say that. We ourselves made the mistake of expelling scientists. What happened? We had no science. The scientists continued their research elsewhere.

Because if it's not Trump, then it will be climate change that forces research institutions to relocate.

Ideas, concepts, models, all of this is invented by scientists, not by heads of state.
