I think that is partly due to the work to find a group of people with the same level of dedication, and that work well together.
That assumes that you prioritize playing the game over who you're playing with. Some want to play with friends, which makes it even harder to align

This got me thinking though. Lately I've been playing in someone else's game. He runs 2 or 3 times a week with different groups. But, he's only running single adventures, lasting maybe 3-6 sessions each.
There's some overlap in players between the groups, and sometimes...
It is a lot more work organizing though. He's probably got a roster of at least 10 people to coordinate
