OMG, this has been a problem for so long. Take the movie John Q, or this show. It really makes you wonder when will it get better, and what it will take?
Thank you! Every time I see this thing, even though, of course, I agree with the underlying point, I have to point out that public school teachers get good coverage, but dead people don't get pensions.
Oh I agree completely. This story isn’t about fixing the system. It’s about how when a human being is cornered and have no options, they can change from a “good person” into a totally evil person. It’s a story of one man’s DARK transformation into evil.
Um, YEAH. I expect nothing less than perfection from a character like Walter White. He makes *top-shelf* only, which is how I prefer all drugs lololol. Pure as snow is how I like things. 🤡😂
Obamacare was a Republican idea from Heritage Foundation. Democrats wanted the public option. This was Obamas attempt to get republicans on board. They even hated their own ideas. Lololol.
“Enjoy” gives you your answer. N.B.: New England was founded at Mass Bay Colony as a communitarian enterprise. Jamestown on rape-and-pillage alpha individualism. I’ll ask you: which does the oligarchy want you to be? Which do they promote with their propaganda? We enjoy a lot of cultural fruits.
I completely forgot that's what breaking bad was about. Without our shitty health insurance industry Breaking Bad wouldn't be a thing. So I guess one good thing came out of it.
Pithy, but inaccurate. A public school teacher in the U.S. gets as good coverage as everybody gets for free elsewhere. It was about not living long enough to draw his pension.
In the first episode Walt mentions that he "doesn't have great insurance."
Once Skylar finds out she insists Walt get the best treatment possible, under the premise that their wealthy friends will pay for out of network procedures that his HMO won't cover.
I used to be a public school teacher and have them in my family. Some have Cadillac coverage, many do not. It’s all relative to have affluent the district is.
$45k per year *easily* is put out of pocket. So I am SICK of people telling me we should save more for retirement. How do you do that when say 1/6 of your income (or MORE) is JUST for healthcare?!? And you can’t use it most of the time?!?!!?
We are self-employed, self-insured, blended fam middle class. Three adult kids are FINALLY on X’s insurance but we paid all 5 kids until only recently.
Now we have four of us on plan, we pay for SHIT dental that we can’t even use. We pay $1900 per month. New rates, ER visit is only 50%. $45k
As an outsider, I have to ask... Would most Americans really rather be ruined financially if they got very ill, than have a much cheaper universal care system that everyone benefits from, even if they don't pay into it? That's how it looks, but Americans I have met outside of the UK have been nice.
I’m going to tell you the true answer: the reason we don’t have universal healthcare is because Black people are in America. If we weren’t here, there would be universal healthcare. That is the gods honest truth.
Girl — I believe you, 100%. This country REFUSES to deal with its past. It never will. But what you’re saying makes perfect sense to me. Doesn’t mean I’ll quit fighting, I’ll never stop, but I don’t think I’ll see it in my lifetime. We gotta all stick together now, anyone who fights for ALL.
Yep exactly. I don’t think we’ll ever see it in our lifetime unfortunately. I would love to. And yes this country refuses to deal with it. They owe us a debt
They owe more than that (I took “debt” as MONEY which I believe they owe too!!!). How about the fckn TRUTH too, right???? Tell your own citizens *the truth* about our history. Stop with the lies. Yes — they have wronged the People so hard, there are no words. They abused the People, full stop.
Yep. And how do you explain it? I’ve given up even fckn trying. My bottomline is that people were lied to so hard that they were tricked into voting against themselves. I have *no idea* anymore if I’m totally right or laughably wrong. Like none. I still can’t believe it, even now.
I can’t speak for people who have better insurance. We can “pay” but when I got COVID this fall, ER visit was $2k. That’s why I pushed off going so I got much much much sicker. I don’t know what percentage of America is in same boat plus media lies to us, so I don’t know true desire for Universal
And I forgot to mention, I raised my stepson, he was a premie, 1 lb 11 ounces. My husband owed $550k from his 4-month hospital stay at birth. He needs EXPENSIVE ADHD meds, he has epilepsy that took years to solve. At one point, his meds were $700 per month. We should have DOUBLE in savings.
So we are NOT rich, still have a mortgage. We barely do our medical/dental because our rates are astronomic!!!! My husband makes great money, maybe $350k a year, I’m currently off due to health. On paper, we should be able to see a doctor. But it’s THOUSANDS so we don’t. One year we paid $45k.
And to add to that….we are “middle class”. Meaning we saved (not enough) for retirement, put most our kids through college, we take one family trip a year— we are “okay”. But I am 95% sure I have skin cancer, so I don’t go. Dentists get dragged out, just 3 of us it’s $1200USD for BASICS.
I honestly can’t even answer you because the culture here seems to be changing faster than anyone can clock, it’s at lightening speed. Speaking as a married 50 something white woman with college loan debt (not a ton), 5 kids, we are self-employed, self-insured, we would KILL for universal. TRULY.
I’m not following you….are you saying it’s all their fault that they don’t make enough money when medical care is ten times their annual salary? Sorry if I am misunderstanding, I wasn’t sure what you meant is all.
No. I’m saying that using an, albeit fictional, class A drug supplier isn’t a great analogy. Walter White was no better than the healthcare ceo’s who kill thousands to profit themselves, and that’s the problem, this system of greed regardless of cost. But you got your paint across 👍👍
Aaaaaahhhhh, now I understand, and you are right too, you make an excellent point. Greed has destroyed our country. Everywhere you turn, the core issue is PURE GREED. Just my two cents. Thanks for sharing that brother.

That was not Walter White’s motivation
