Indeed, I do believe that the problem with windows 9x is that they were poorly built on top of DOS, which was never meant to be a multi task OS. Microsoft's most recent problems have got to do with poor business practices.
When people complain about our really spicy missile control systems being ancient, my response is "I prefer that to the most literal blue screen of death that can ever exist"
Same date they dropped 3.1 support (and presumably support for older versions officially). With how long XP was supported it shows just how short 95's support date was and that 98 replaced it so quick.
