Yes, it's an outdated system that needs to be changed, as is the Electoral College and a corrupt Supreme Court. Not to mention term limits and age limits and ban on insider trading.
Agreed. An amendment should come forward that says there must be a minimum of people for this and smaller states must be combined for their Representatives. Equality!
You see how disorganized it gets with the house and all the people the object is for states to be represented no populations so my idea of having a minimum population and combining small states makes more sense to me. (2)
If you don't like this rigged system, SECEDE and join Canada's Confederation and rejoin the British Commonwealth. American West coast and northeastern states have more in common with most of Canada than the former Confederate/Red states. Secession is the only cure to the 'Red State disease'.
Conservatives are all about control. They want to control when you eat, when you sleep, when you work, when you use the bathroom. Their policies are all based on giving them benefits and taking them away from you.
The red states get tens of billions of taxpayer dollars in federal aid and apparently want the federal government to cease to exist. All I can say is, "can we have our money back"?
Considering Blue States like New York and California are pretty much funding the Federal Government and providing the money that is going to GOP-held states in the form of financial aid I would say that Blue States should definately get to keep their money if the Federal Government stops working.
Yes if there is no more government services left, where is that money going? Into the 🍊💩and the muskrats pocket book? The blue states should keep it and put it back into state government services.
originally, senators were chosen by state legislatures, to represent the state, not the people living in the state, hence an equal number for each state.
This isn't really a good example. It's mixing apples with oranges. While the message is fine, the example is poor. You're mixing senators with electors.
Each state gets electors based upon the quantity of senators plus the quantity of house members, per state.
The number of members in the house, until 1929, was decided by law based upon the census. After 1929, the house was locked at 435, and the executive branch is to reapportion the 435 per census
I think Dems should hammer this point in debates about DEI. Either it is agreed that minority representation is a social good, or it isn't and EC should be changed.
I get the point but they have the power. They split the dakotas. The republicans are way better at politics. Meanwhile, dems from red states flee to blue states and we can’t win the electoral college. SMH
Those red states suck blue states dry while bragging about Arkansas, I still hear Sarah Sanders twangy whining about how PROUD she is of that. They are nearly destitute there.
It’s pretty obvious the Electoral is a major problem in American elections. How about a first past the post system like other countries? Living with an 17th century constitution is no longer working .
One thing you can try is to dare the moron you have as a president and all his low IQ helpers to sign an executive order to dismentle Electoral College and put in place "Mandatory Voting for all Americans".
This way, nobody will stay home on election day, no delay to count votes because ALL votes.
Rather, it actually is what conservatives think DEI is (but is not). DEI doesn't give an advantage to minorities, but the electoral college does give an advantage to red states.
well to be fair everything that isn't DEI is just discrimination by definition?! What they're demanding is legalized prejudice and if we look back in time and replace that word with a different one, it's just a copy paste sadly...
It depends, I'm all for anti discrimination in general, the problem I have with a lot of DEI stuff I see is that it's some half arsed attempt to appeal to investors.
Too many groups are treating diversity like a checklist.
ohhhhhh I fully agree there but that is also discrimination and highlites the way they use us all as objects for their profit motives ... the problem I'm seeing is people aren't really talking about that they're just attacking everyone that isn't white for everything which is highlighting alot more😪
yeah and u know to be fair the bigots also take away from the very valid point you made, because how do you talk about that without inviting the rest of that stuff... as usual the problem is mostly just corrupt rich people using us to manipulate eachother for their own gain breaking everything tried
really is just forced division like they're doing to every single group they can come up with .. I think your thinking is correct but I also am confident that has nothing to do with the masses talking about it .. those ones just want discrimination because idk wtf reason hate is so dumb
MAGA are the folks who bitch about building an accessible ramp, and then hang out talking on it, blocking wheelchairs from getting through once it’s built.
That's why the Senate was originally set up to be appointed by state legislatures. The small states (GA, SC, NC) din't want to be dominated by the large ones (VA, NY, MA, PA).
The entire edifice is anti-democratic. Both Senate and EC.
The term was the same (6 years) but state legislatures appointed Senators. So they were heavily tied to whatever factions were in power in states, including machines such as Tammany Hall in New York.
It was even more corrupt than now. That's why the Progressive movement pushed for direct election.
Makes you wonder why nobody has had the courage or the willpower do do away with something that isn’t benefiting democracy or the people as a a whole doesn’t it? It’s almost like regardless of your political affiliation once you get elected you’re going to do whatever benefits you monetarily. EOS.
Low population states have disproportionate representation in Congress. They like it that way. WY and VT (pop under 600K) have two Senators. CA is 39M, TX is 31M. It's massively unfair.
This is why the 1870s/80s era GOP admitted lots of states in the west with tiny populations.
Remember, at the time Native people were not US citizens and could not vote (until 1914). Territories were supposed to have a population of 60K to be admitted but the GOP violated this repeatedly and admitted WY, ND, SD, MT and ID to increase their own power.
I think I might be too stupid, but what do senators have to do with the electoral college? Don't get me wrong, equal senators are similar to equitable electoral votes, but they aren't the same thing.
You are correct, they’re unrelated. Also, electoral college votes are based on population. More people, more electors, that’s why CA has so many EC votes.
The messaging is a good point, but that’s speech bubble is talking about the Great Compromise in the Constitution, not the Electoral College which is the point system allocated to states during elections

The Red States are just dead weight.
One person, one vote, no problem.

The GOP has always just lied about where they want any rule to stop.
Abortion was "state rights", until they won an inch.
Never believe a word they say.
We have Nanaimo bars, poutine, universal healthcare, and democracy.
I’m guessing your favourite shapes are stars and stripes?
What are your favourite dinosaurs lil buddy?

The Floundering Faddahs were pretty smart for the 18th century, but not for the 21st.
You can't expect a system made for 13 former colonies to be scaled to 50 spread across a continent.
President must be by popular vote.
one person
one vote
end of bullshit
If he's not a coward, he will do it.
But he knows he will lose.
In a landslide.

A lot of games seem to be trying to censor the concept of sexual dimorphism for example.
