Yeah but you elevate him amongst all the other victims of Trump - when you know his cause seeks exactly this attention, and has failed to distance itself explicitly from Hamas.
Don’t be stupid. He’s being elevated because he is the first individual we’re aware of that, despite his US legal resident status, has been basically disappeared. You can be critical of his politics (as I am) but still horrified by the precedent this represents.
Exactly. And furthermore "his cause seeks exactly this kind of attention" is an excellent thing to criticize the administration for - maybe don't flagrantly violate American values in order to protect American values
Yes if he is truly being rounded up for things guaranteed by the first amendment. Because if they want to weaken freedoms, they’re going to do it first with an unpopular person with an unpopular agenda who most people will agree is terrible. And then the next person will be slightly less terrible…
That's not the right question, though. The right question is: Do I want to live in a country where the government can disappear people and take someone's green card away if the president's political allies demand it?

Just as you don't need to have sympathy for murderers to insist that they deserve lawyers.
But if helped unleash this Trump fascism and misery on millions of people, including Palestinians, he would not receive my sympathy.
