Delighted to announce that I’m co-leading (alongside @drhelendrury.bsky.social) a major new and independent review of maths curriculum & assessment: @mathshorizons.bsky.social https://mathshorizons.uk

What math curriculum? Where I live in U.S. America, they don't issue students books or online material other than homework questions, which are auto-graded at answer entry, by string matching with only symbols - string matching for correctness, no math engine of any kind. PS: we need you now.
Will be interesting to see how this differs from some of the others recently published - Royal Society and OCR. More attention in the I area the better
Several things I’m really excited about with this review: inc. the focus on conference - maths (teaching, curriculum, CPD, etc) is so intertwined and this is often ignored, the opportunity to better know and understand the incredible bright spots of practice. And it’s led by brilliant people
It’s designed as a very practical review of design, implementation and trade-offs, from 5-18, findings ways to boost both mathematical outcomes and enjoyment. It’s chaired by Professor Lord Lionel Tarassenko and run through Purposeful Ventures. Find out more: https://www.tes.com/magazine/analysis/secondary/why-launching-dedicated-maths-review
No, fully independent. We’re going to share all of our findings and thinking with the Francis review and we’re not just looking at what could pragmatically change in their review but also over a longer time period.
Oh this is brilliant. Such a range of implementation currently. Fascinated by the way NCTEM has completely disrupted approaches to direct teaching accross the curriculum in many primary schools. Watching with interest!
