It’s an unpopular opinion among cats. You think people are just letting their cats up on the counters? No! Those buggers make the decision for themselves.
I have two cats. And I agree. Obviously we can’t police them when we aren’t home, but they always get hauled off counters if I see them. You do it often enough, and they learn not to. (When you are looking….🥸)
Exactly this 🤭 you’d swear people think we encourage them to be in places they shouldn’t be. You think I can control this maniac? I have one who’s an angel and doesn’t even look at the counters and another who’s the devil and will climb every surface possible.
I throw my cat off the counter 100+ times a day, and he just jumps right back up. The amount of Clorox wipes I go through to clean up after his dirty little paws is insane😭
My mother solved this issue with our first cat by getting a stool that was at counter height and we kept it in the kitchen for the cat. The cat loved it and could hang with us in the kitchen and he was off the counter.
I dont allow my cat but I know she will when I am not watching. I always wash, rinse my cutting boards and food prep surfaces regardless of which pet I have just due to the risk of hair contaminants alone!
Oh right???? I sanitize TF out of my counters/stove before cooking because I KNOW the little fuckers are having 3 am parties up there. Then my mom sabotages me by letting Fluffy share her cereal milk. ON THE TABLE. MOM.
People who post photos/videos of cats hanging out on the counter while they cook ... Just ... Why???
Yes, cats will leap up because they can, but they shouldn't be lounging up there.
I got these plastic spike things from Amazon. They come in a set of 12. You lay them all over your counter space and the creatures don't like it. On the flip side they look ugly and you have to take them down one by one before using the counter. But hey no cat hair in your eggs or soup.
I've had 4 cats and many cats growing up and none of them ever got on the kitchen counters. It was not tolerated from the start. But mine have always had free rein over the coffee and end tables in the living room.
Absolutely agree. They dig in their litter box with those cute peets. I don't have many rules for my cat, but kitchen counters and the coffee table are the only no-nos.

The smaller counters they don't get on at least.
Bwahahahahahahahahaha

I don’t know how I taught them or how they learned it.
Just once when my mother was frying bacon Twinkle jumped up and grabbed a bit out of the pan.
And don’t sleep.
