They're all from the Saint Louis Park native plant sale. Calling me a novice gardener would be generous, but I did spend about a week putting these babies in.
The wonderful thing about most natives is they are perennials so with a little periodic work you’ll enjoy them for years. We have been going at it for the last eight years slowly removing grass and hope to have it all removed in favor of pavers and natives this year.
I live in Colorado and our state flower is the blue columbine. The colors here are based on pollinators and isolation on various mountains. For instance, yellow columbines are popular with our Miller moths, the blue with long-tongued bees and hawkmoths, and hummingbirds with the red.
