Big W for WNN member MountainTrue! 🏆 Last night, Asheville, NC went big on housing options in commercial areas: 1️⃣ No parking mandates 2️⃣ No density limits 3️⃣ Apt bldgs can be 2x larger 4️⃣ Approvals streamlined for apartment buildings <100k sf AND they increased viability of smaller home options. Wow!

Linnea Goderstad speaking in support of #HF2140 at the House Housing Committee today: "Attached homes like ours, along with triplexes and fourplexes, that #HFF2140 legalizes, are more accessible than single-family homes." @moreneighbors.org @sierraclubmn.bsky.social

Are new homes are expensive? Yes! Can they help provide affordable homes? Yes - in at least 5 ways. What have hermit crabs got to do with this? Feel free to read up, and watch the amazing Discover Magazine video linked in the post. davethompsonvictoria.ca/new-homes-ar... #affordablehousing

See you all there!

Whether you've taken action for Twin Cities Boulevard or attended Imagine 6th Avenue North, we need your support at the Capitol to pass legislation that would affect all of our transportation advocacy efforts. See you at the Capitol! www.ourstreetsmn.org/event/highwa...

THURSDAY: If you hear an alarming wail across the city, it's only a test of the Emergency Bike Ride System.

Minnetonka Monday Tonight! Help us celebrate SPK's 60th birthday with a roll around medicine lake followed by pizza and beverages at the shop: www.strava.com/clubs/470025...

The first thing I was taught in my Wilderness first responder course was to check for scene safety before approaching a patient. Ambulance drivers are forced into unsafe situations every time they are called to action. This is not ok. www.kare11.com/article/news...

It's going to be a beautiful day to hang out around the fire with your friends from Streets.mn! See you at Como!

Come hang out!

When is the green line extension going to save me?

So much more complicated than good vs. bad.

Reasons why many suburban cyclists are also mountain bikers: many of our key trail connections look like this.

Heard a great maxim when it comes to designing streets. "It's better to put cars in bodyshops than people in bodybags." Traffic calming and pedestrian safety measures may increase minor vehicle crashes, but will reduce fatalities. A tradeoff that is well worth it.

Some people can’t ride a bike!!! Actually this is true. Despite being a "gotcha" on Twitter. Also true: - Some people can’t take transit. - Some people can’t walk. - Some people can’t drive. That’s why we need safe and practical options for everyone. More: davethompsonvictoria.ca/ocp-update-s...

Important! Hennepin county is beginning to plan reconstruction of Minnetonka blvd between hwy 100 and 169. Let the county know that Minnetonka Blvd should work for everyone! Not just drivers! survey123.arcgis.com/share/1bd48b...

District 46 is having a town hall tonight at Saint Louis Park city hall. Doesn't look like it was posted on blusky yet, so here you go!

It shocks me that the people who design roads continue with the status quo after these kinds of things happen.

Hey, that's me!

Car dependency has been so normalized that most people don't know that putting a child into a car is more dangerous than putting them on a bike. In fact, car trips are the most dangerous activity that most children partake in.

"The traffic engineering professionals at MnDOT are claiming that an expanded freeway with more lanes and more cars will produce less pollution than if we replaced it with a more traditional urban street. That’s public health denialism." @wedge.live wedgelive.com/mndots-publi...

If you wear a safety vest you can get away with whatever you want

"I have been told that SW Transit is going to be doing a full review of all routes this year. My hope is that this review will reveal that neglecting riders attempting to travel to the southwest suburbs from Minneapolis is a mistake."

Guess which bridge this is on.

After the REI layoffs, my friend out west is trying to buy all of the gear from her local experiences garage and start her own guide business! If you are able to contribute funds, now is the time!! She needs $20,000 before they sell off all the gear at the end of the week. fundly.com/trails-diver...

I rode my fat bike on the Minnehaha creek yesterday, such a rare and special Minnesota treat! Unfortunately there are many areas where the creek goes under busy roads and there's lots of litter. Found birthday decorations and unserved bus stop 6501. Maybe a memorial, but no info on Minnesota DPS.

Streets.mn Happy hour at Lake monster brewing Jan 9 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm! See you there! streets.mn/2024/12/27/j...

The opportunity for i94 to be reimagined as a corridor that BEST serves those who live along it was a chance for the institutions to prove their worth. That it was nixed by faceless bureaucrats due to an outdated methodology is a travesty. Institutions are killing public faith exponentially.

I don't think I haven't yet reposted this when it comes up. My work to office by car is ~15km via major roads (all 4 lanes or more). I can not get to my office via shared pedestrian & bicycle infra, let alone bicycle only infra. Best I can do is 19km of which much is narrow shared infrastructure.
