I love how you took it from boards to roughs; these layouts are wildly dynamic and the hits FELT brutal, there was such weight behind them, and that cut away to the sword bounce! Fantastic.
And those are timing charts! The letters notate which layer (character), the circled number for what frame the current drawing is on, and the triangle number for when the next drawing is. The numbers in the middle are for what frames I would like in-betweens added to help smooth it out.
Oh, I see, it's so that they'd move slightly separately once the in-betweens are drawn. I've seen that being done with the character+background composition but never noticed it applied to two different characters. That's very interesting, thank you :)
