Listening to Sarah's podcast was enlightening and depressing. Self-described swing voters are so deeply mis/dis-informed. They see Trump's undemocratic behavior as a justifiable retaliation for how he was "mistreated." As if Trump did nothing to deserve his legal troubles..

An undervalued form of power is information. Those who can control information can control the populace. Actively by only allowing prescribed information (propaganda) to be shared. Passively by what Ms. Applebaum referred, getting people to tune out. When nothing is true, all that is left is power.

It's not about not caring... it is about not knowing where to turn and what to do. Folks still have to pay mortgages and rents and utilities and groceries. It would be great to just bring the nation to a halt, but way too many people are not in a position to just end their incomes.
