This line if anything proves the demand for rail is not currently being met in full and we need far more rail investment here and across the whole country. Any future improvements in London will emphasise it as a region much more like Ile de France. Saying that we need Crossrail 2 asap!

Yeah Paris have five Crossrails (they call them the RER), we have two. If we look at it as friendly competition, we're behind but not out of the running.

Two older ones are a bit grubby. Paris had the foresight to invest in more lines. Little political willing here from any party despite the success of CR1 and would rather gain national political popularity by depriving London of nice things.

Makes me think our planning system is conservative on purpose. Every new railway has greatly surpassed passenger number expectations. We saw this in Scotland&Okehampton too. The success of Liz screams out that we need a couple more Crossrails at least. This line was originally proposed in the 90s!
