Even so most modern tartans even of pukka clans are Victorian or in some cases post-WW2 balls. I'm a Grant. The Grant tartans I'm entitled to wear look nothing like the Grant tartan shown in this 1714 portrait of the Clan piper.

Remembering my best pal having Armstrong as a middle name to preserve some tradition or other. He's not dead, seeing him tomorrow, just remembered his middle name.

There are a few other versions, modern, weathered, and hunting.
As a Grant you can pick your favourite, though. 🙂.
