Thank you Bob Uecker for the levity you brought to humanity. Just yesterday my son confirmed purchase of Padres spring training tickets - said he splurged and bought the Bob Ueker seats ~ front row. We will toast to your legacy. Tell Professor Enberg hello. ⚾️💛🤎🎙️
Summer will never be the same. I think I will still sit in the sun with a beer and listen to old games he announced. Maybe he will have a greatest hits compilation.
He was not the greatest player of all time, but it kills me to hear armchair experts kills me to hear armchair experts say this professional athlete or this Olympic athlete sucks. The truth is he was a professional athlete and all Olympic athletes are just that Olympic athletes. All of them elite.
The Usinger sausage ad's, the "Get up, get out, gone!!" home run calls. A true baseball legend and a legendary human being. Baseball has lost one of its all-time greats and the world has lost a legendary icon today.
Fantastic announcer with a great sense of humor. I listened to Brewer games as a kid and when the team was down double digit scores, no one turned off the radio because Bob would tell such entertaining stories.
I saw that guy talk maybe 50 years ago. Recounted the story of how he and another player held hands during the team's official group photo and a day later the club called them in and made them pay for the re-shoot. He had a sens of humor.
He said, "So the next day I found a print of the photo taped to my locker with our hands circled in red and the words 'See the manager' written on it."
Also:
"I used to hit the bars right after the game. You can't believe the number of free beers you'll get if you're still in uniform."
Sorry to hear of his passing. The man added his own brand of humor to the oft-droll world of baseball. Long live the phrase "Must be in the Frunt Row!" and "Just a bit outside".
My best memory of him is listening to a random weeknight Brewers game in the car and hearing him call Buster Posey a pansy. Posey wasn't in the game, Uecker was just discussing the rule change about home plate collisions.
>>Cardinals management had this picture retaken because Gibson and Uecker were holding hands with big goofy smiles on their faces. Bob Uecker & Bob Gibson are both fined by the Cardinals for holding hands for team picture, '64<<

"What are you doing out here?"
Uecker replied, “Oh, nothing, just going out to talk to Curt Flood in center."
