What's odd is there wasn't much fighting? In my old apartment there was a neighbor who would get in shouting matches, this was just briefly loud and apparently destructive, but I don't want to go get undressed until my cats calm down (and I'm wondering if the police are going to knock)

Yeah, that does seem odd. Also, how big are the shards of glass in the driveway? Stock glass shatters really easily into large chunks but tempered glass is surprisingly difficult to shatter, but shatters into less than half inch pieces.

People throwing things around or punching the window by accident can cause a break pattern like that and hopefully nobody managed to flay themselves open in the process.

Cops did indeed knock to make sure I was ok, ask what I'd heard (I informed them), and ask if I wanted the people arrested for disturbing my peace (I declined) or if I wanted to listed in any case (I also declined). He did say they would clean up the glass once it was no longer considered evidence.

I kinda want to check and see if my car is ok because I heard something about tires but I assume if my car, which is clearly registered to me at this address, had been damaged, the officer would have mentioned something.

The landlord replaced all the front-facing windows in the complex in the past few years, when I moved in they were just single-pane and one of mine broke just from the house settling but the new ones I think you'd have to put an effort into. Or, like, a chair.

Update: they cleaned up the big pieces of glass but in the sunlight there's a bunch of little pieces. Dunno who is going to clean that up (I have a sneaking suspicion the answer is "me"). Anyway, I warned the elderly neighbors who take a daily walk around the complex to be careful.

Really the most annoying thing is that the car that got its tires slashed at some point in the proceedings is parked in the best parking spot in the complex, so who knows how long that's going to be there.
