I don't think people inside the US understand the full extent of how massive of a deal the WWE's Netflix deal is, it's only Raw for y'all but it's eeeeeevvvveeerrrryyyytthhhhiiinnnngggg for everyone else and in most places outside of North America their TV deals up to now have been buttwank - ThreadSky

outside of a brief stint on Channel 4 the WWE has been locked off to premium package channels here and same is true for most of Europe as far as I know, Netflix isn't as omnipresent as it used to be but it's a heck of lot more appealing for wrestling than an expensive sports TV package

during TNA's peak Impact would routinely beat Raw and Smackdown in the ratings here because of that accessibility which is why there's so much nostalgia for that brand here, they would often struggle to fill up the Impact Zone in Orlando for free but could draw 3-5 thousand if they came over here

basically in most of the world up to now you couldn't watch WWE programming regularly unless you went out of your way and many places don't have much of a wrestling culture at all, with this deal they're in tens of millions more homes worldwide and it's a constant barrage of content

maybe this has always been inevitable since 2001 so it's not worth getting mad about now, but it sure would have been nice if in recent years someone with a lot of money could have established a viable alternative that appealed to people beyond an already existing and aging niche audience, ohh welll
