Little Necks, Top Necks, Cherrystones, and Quahogs!!!
Yum. We do our own clamming, around here, on Cape Cod. And uncles do oystering, too. (Wellfleet Oysters!)
My family has been the stewards for a greenland shark for the last 314 years. We train from birth to serve her long term goals. Mostly that's maximizing eggs but this year she's testy and says it's too hot and she can't sleep. No one knows if it's menopause or climate change. We are distraught. -g
Once upon a time I wanted to be a sharkologist. But I have thalassophobia and partial blindness, so I admire them from afar. And maybe temporarily adopt for the holidays. From afar. ☺️ Happy holidays Mx. Shark!! 🩷
I watched the episode where the OceanXplorer scientists studied these sharks, and it was pretty cool.
They were also looking at Bowhead whales that live up to 200yrs.
Yeah, almost two decades ago now! A Canadian university worked with an aquarium, the animal was collected in the St. Lawrence Seaway and held at the university. It p much started to dissolve. Was euthanized in less than 20 days. Immature female ~4m long.
Also if you must get a deep, slow, long lived shark the six gill is a more local option if you live on the pacific coast and want your holiday spending to stay in the community.
You also need a specialist to deal with any issues, because most of them are blind. From what I've heard, I mean. I don't have one in my backyard pond or anything.
Well...no. First of all, greenland sharks are vertebrates as well. Among mammals, blue whales are not those with the longest life-spans, but Greenland whales.
That's interesting. I learned during the first Trump administration that Greenland isn't for sale. But now you tell me that I can at least buy one of their sharks. Awesome!

Is everything ok?
If you absolutely *must* have a Greenland shark in your life, adopt!
