Right now, Vancouver Island marmots are hibernating; escaping the winter snow and storms in torpor underground. This is Van Isle Violet, hard at work getting her winter snooze.

Above underground we are also hard at work. We just finished habitat restoration in several marmot colonies, and now begin the task of analyzing data and preparing for the season ahead.
One bit of wonderful news is the number of pups we have been able to count this year. Currently, we have identified 102 wild-born pups from the summer! That is an incredible number for this critically endangered species
Your donations make our work possible, and recovery efforts are working as the record number of pups this year attests. Thank you so much for helping us save this incredible animal from extinction. https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/m/124444
