Appalled to hear a commentator on Radio 4 suggesting that Trump will do a deal which sees Putin hold on to Russia’s territorial gains in Ukraine as if that’s a decent outcome

It's as if this idea of just renaming parts of the globe, USA, is somehow legitimate. And therefore renaming parts of Ukraine, Russia, is legitimate. Well it isn't. Journalists do your job, read up on International laws and stop legitimising this nonsense!
We should have just let Hitler keep Europe in 1940 up to the French coast and ignored the genocide, murder and oppression of occupied people. Hey it would have been good outcome in the circumstances. What a world of appeasement and short memories we live in now. Ike will be spinning in his grave.
I have been astonished by the tone of some BBC reporting for a little while now.
I simply wish some well-regarded reporters could adopt a more neutral, measured tone rather than an upbeat one when informing us of increasingly dystopian events.
Was that the former head of MI6? I found his realism very sobering, said ultimately Ukraine needs it sovereignty less about land. I had assumed sovereignty would be a given for the US but who knows what Trump will give away, was that why he was bashing on about elections and popularity of Zelensky
It used to be called appeasement Rory but I think it has moved on to “doublespeak” levels now. That mean the BBC has become a partisan source and can’t be trusted now.
So many people in the media seem to have taken leave of their senses in connection with Russia. There are journalists and commentators attempting to "both sides" the issue of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. It was a hostile act by Putin and there should be no room for the British press to equivocate.
USA wants ownership of Ukrainian rare earth minerals. That's f**k all to do with 'debt'. Furthermore, USA is at as great a risk from Russia as Europe is, how many bases does USA have in and around Europe?
I wonder if USA is planning to pay back the billions in European currencies and thousands of European lives spent after supporting USA in the attack waves after 9/11, where NATO helt their alliance.
Short termism and weak management are killing good quality bbc news and political journalism. As for reporting on Ukraine, Russia illegally invaded in 2022 and that is fact which should not be up for debate, it is a North Star
We're being softened up for this outcome, instead of being warned of the dangers of further annexation in the context of other wider European neighbours. Next stop Kaliningrad via the Baltic States.

That’s what the tone does.
