I've been watching it and other parades (as well as marching in some) since I was little so it feels very nostalgic for me. And seeing all the balloons and floats is fun!
then you really need to google what goes on at the Philly News Years Day " Mummers Parade " ..Been around for a hundred years or so . Quite a spectacle

every year i forget it’s even a thing and every year im surprised all over again that people (including adults!!) actually watch it. i’m not like… mad that it’s a thing? just…really mystified, i guess. i do not get the appeal.
The kids really like it. I think I grew out of it because of the corporatism myself, but I don't need to ruin it for the young ones just yet. Life is hard enough.

Why anyone would want to watch one through a television where none of those things can be experienced, is beyond me.
