I think this misreads it. Per their own discussions from 2016, they believe (with some justification) that they can use trolling to convert people. White supremacists used Xitter as a means to direct mainstream discourse.

So they need to be where mainstream discourse is.

The slow trickle of MAGA folks over here underscores how much their experience of online is entirely dependent on people getting mad at them. It also underscores how even they, given the option, would rather not hang out with themselves either.
