Before I read it… will I get depressed? During the Kerry campaign, I read Crimes Against Nature by RFK jr (I know, but I was young). I couldn’t sleep for two weeks, couldn’t hold my daughter, and lost a lot of weight.

There is one difference between Hitler's rise and the current situation. Hitler exploited the economic plight of Germans following WWI's loss to the Allies. The economy is good now; so the disaffection Trump has exploited is one of manufactured grievances by right-wing media over several decades.

But Trump's 2nd term is highly likely to be an economic disaster, which he'll blame on Democrats. His followers are primed to believe that message and he'll exploit the crisis to remove any semblance of democracy so that he can rule the nation with no constraints.
