As with the drug war and the flow of guns, the only way to stop the traffic is to go after the demand.

Which in this case would mean going after the people and companies that employ undocumented workers.

Somehow, that never seems to be the proposed solution.

Cato has done excellent research on this topic. Criminal border crossings, particularly, skyrocketed to an all-time high under Trump because he decided not to prioritize prosecuting them. Like on the economy, Biden has been cleaning up Trump's mess.

Here's a super fun article about how Trump helped accelerate the fentanyl crisis. Almost everything Biden had to face Ukraine, Afghanistan, Israel, baby food, gas costs going up there was some horrible decision Trump made to aid in their development.
