Reupping this thread bc on Day Two of Ignore the Fascism to Instead Whine abt SOTU Responses, I have yet to see a single compelling argument abt what RIGHT SOTU response is/could have been, or why.

One of the problems, IMO, w/both Dems in Congress and the pundits screaming at them rather than the fascists is they still think fixing Trump is abt winning an election.
That's a luxurious thought but wildly wrong-headed.
Problem is winning enough non-, swing-, and GOP voters to halt things now.

was one of a handful of Democrats who didn’t attend. Instead, he generated rallies
in his district and DC. This was the best use of his time, and the best act of resistance he could have offered. I’m pretty sure he did it in response to his constituents’ “whining”.
But there's literally no basis to say his was better, AFAIK. Partly bc of what SOTU has become.

"The Members should have boycotted"
“They should have gone, but walked out."
“They should have stayed, but shouted him down."
“The signs were lame”
Lots of “experts” with no constructive input.
I’m starting to think the whining is the thing ...
And all the while Trump continues on.
end with:
Sorry America, but Elon needs that money!
Be forced to close or at least THROW OUT THE SICKEST AND POOREST. REPUBLICAN VOTERS THAT MEANS YOUR FAMILY TOOOOO.
Will ordinary political action and mood matter? Guess we will find out.
That's your own choice, and your own impotence. But understand you have done that.
I made no comment about you personally. I stated FACTUALLY that unless you reach out to these people you will lose (incidentally, a topic centrally related to my PhD, so take your ad hom "out of depth" and suck it).
I'm sorry that hurt your feelings.
- gotta imagine some GOP voters like that.
But Trump's attacks have already had a significant impact on places that were largely checked out of the campaign.
Or "more should have walked out" without mentioning most of those who did.
Not attacking Trump's pathetic speech is the worst part of course.
In the next week, Dems need to present legislative alternatives to Trump's proposals with side-by-side charts about how each will impact household budgets and spending.
Take it down to the individual.
No matter what they did, someone would criticize and say it was wrong and/or not enough
You just said they were effective, w/o realizing it.
