The stuff about the Azov Battalion is a bit odd yes there was a volunteer militia but the army and state got rid of them back in 2014. Byrne was working at Meta when the company de-listed the Azov Battalion from its Dangerous Organizations list, a move she believes was "a political decision" based on the company's relationship with the White House. She and her colleagues objected, but were overruled.

She later worked on Meta's "Malicious Actor Framework," a system that uses "signals" about who you are and interact with to detect users likely to engage in extremism or other rule violations. Byrne worried this system would essentially operate as a racial/religious profiling machine.
