I think Nintendo is a master of their craft and has built its entire operation and legacy under the core principle that the relationship between fun and game design has nothing to do with teraflops. They literally made a game out of cardboard. I'm always impressed by their discipline and focus.

It's that, but also, for numerous reasons (cost of the system, content) no one is buying FF VII Rebirth for their 8 year old. Games for adults can and do sell very well, but no one brings in the gift-buying parents and grandparents like the big N.
