Severance is OK. There was a reason Twilight Zone episodes weren't 18 hours long. But I think I'm mostly disappointed that it centers the mystery box rather than exploring new angles of its very familiar themes.

Yeah, it feels like everything it wanted to express about the severed experience has been said. The last two episodes have really dragged on and I'm ready for some mysteries to be solved rather than more invented.
The writing is excellent, and the characters are awesome. Nothing will ever live up to “this is the greatest thing ever.” Even Andor.. Sometimes, you just have to be there when it comes out without expectations. That being said, watch the penguin. It’s the greatest thing ever. Lmao
I think season two is a step down from the first season personally. It’s not dissimilar to House Of The Dragon S2 for me. Great individual episodes, but the overall narrative got lost somewhere. I believe that they can still get back on track, with the creator saying the series is mapped out, IMO
Agreed. At this point I’ve lost interest in the cultishness and nefarious machinations of the evil company because that’s way less interesting than the first season’s focus on the central characters each finding their fight.
You should give “My Own Worst Enemy” a try. A one season NBC show staring Christian Slater that’s Severance but the severed dude is a spy and his cover identity is the innie.
yeah same. ended season 1 super high on it, but season 2 has been way too much 'things happening', in the westworld mold (post s1). trying to be clever rather than focus on the character's spiritual journey.
I don't know - to me, part of what I love about it is how it blatantly decenters the mystery box (recent Kobel episode notwithstanding) and keeps the focus on the personal journeys of the characters. Some episodes like the wilderness excursion one seem to blatantly say "the lore? It's BS, ignore it"
This is so crazy to me. This series is so fully exploring ever facet of this technology satirizing capitalism to religion to corporatism. The characters being fully explored inside and out. It's so we'll thought it and paced to me.
First you and Mike shit on The Last of Us, now I gotta suffer this? You’re falling off from relevancy, Grubb! You keep it up and you’ll end up like Dan, you hear me? LIKE DAN!

“Dune is OK. There was a reason Astounding Science Fiction only published short stories.”
(You have a right to your opinion this was a joke)
