Look, revisionist history doesn't help anyone. It makes perfect sense Ricky...ugh...Saints would think the grass might be greener in WWE. His friend is the world champ and AEW never really got behind him even though, yes, he was fairly over. 🤼♂️

Very much this. I feel like we are heading in that direction with Darby and Mox. The writing is on the wall that he wants that matchup. But at this point there’s hotter people and better choices.
I don't like Darby, let me get that out of the way. But from a specific pov, I can understand feeling like you need to reward the guy for his long tenure since he's been losing world title shots since day 1. Otherwise you risk making him a choke artist. But at the same time...he don't got it
I don’t dislike him I guess but I don’t need a long title run out of him either. I feel it’s inevitable. So let’s get it out of the way because there’s at least 5 guys that are better choices.
Aside from... allegations, Darby doesn't feel like he has evolved at all since the start, even from working with Sting. Which bores me. I'd like to see him turn heel
very black and white thinking surrounding Ricky. AEW both gave him opportunities to shine and failed to follow up when he was at his hottest. Ricky is both an electric talent with an x-factor in spades but also isn't the most compelling worker.
It's so frustrating that every time a talent moves there's people on here claiming they "actually sucked all along, trust me, I'm a very serious person but also I care a lot about the workers being taken care of I promise"
It's the flip side of people who love the fed claiming everyone in AEW sucks until they move and then suddenly they were great the whole time and it's a huge get for WWE. Please just remember what you said a month ago
While there were times he disappeared for weeks, I think AEW gave him quite a lot of chances to excel. He was a solid upper mid card with last 5 of his feuds being Punk (Won Owen Hart), Danielson, FTR (Tag Titles), Kenny/Jericho (Kenny got sick), Sting and Darby.
Yeah, upper mid-card. But I don't see anyone who was above on the card from him who should not be.
Not to say he was bad by any stretch. He was very very solid. Just couldn't break through the elite, in my opinion anyway.
You're right. He could have been TNT Champion. He probably would have been TNT Champion had he stayed. But Owen Cup was a big thing, no? Defeating CM Punk in the finals at that.
No, the Owen Cup was and is not a big thing until it is parlayed into something big consistently. 2024 is the first year where it felt like winning the Owen actually led to something major. They need to bring that energy into 2025.
I really don't think he's going out of his way to bury anyone in AEW. He was in a frustrating situation, he's within his rights to be a little unhappy about it. Like I don't read that interview and think "wow TK would never take him back after he said that."
The read on what happened there is muddled, so I don't have much of a take myself.
From what I saw, Ricky's solid in-ring, great at presentation, and has charisma though lacked good instinct on *how* to wield that in about half of his AEW promos. Decent to fans! Good luck to him! 🤼🏾🤼🏾♂️
That instinct bit is the best way I've heard it put. For real, half of his programs were muddied by just weird segments. Some of them I couldn't even "blame" Ricky exactly, except that he's the common denominator. I never found his matches captivating. Honestly, it is a perfect fit for the machine.

Have some intellectual honesty folks I am begging
