I'm so tired of top charts. I bet it's convenient for platforms to take a few metrics and compile a list of games that 60% of users will find mediocre, but ffs we can do so much better.

I stopped buying games on Steam years ago though before that I bought new games every week. Their new game discovery is in an embarrassing state. “Is it selling” != “is it good”.

That is disheartening to hear. Anecdotally this Next Fest definitely felt different from others before. It seemed to be surfacing a lot more crap games and AI slop than I've ever noticed before. I have to say I browsed through quite a bit and didn't see Rift Riff once.
